Universal Avionics holds a Type 2 Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for several databases.
A Type 2 LOA indicates Universal's database processes for the listed avionics systems and databases meet the objectives of RTCA DO-200A/ED-76, Standards for Processing Aeronautical Data, and either FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 20-153A, Acceptance of Aeronautical Data Processes and Associated Databases, or AC 20-153B Section 3.1 alternative means of compliance. A Type 2 LOA recognizes compatibility with the Data Quality Requirements necessary to support an intended function by listing the associated equipment.
Universal Avionics receives FMS navigation data from multiple data suppliers: specifically, Lufthansa Systems GmbH & Co. KG (Lufthansa Systems), Jeppesen Sanderson, Inc. (Jeppesen), and NAVBLUE Limited (NAVBLUE).
Lufthansa Systems holds a Type 1 DAT Certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Jeppesen holds a Type 1 LOA from the FAA and a Type 1 DAT from EASA.
NAVBLUE holds a Type 1 DAT Certificate from EASA.

FMS Navigation Database Type 2 LOA
The FMS Navigation Databases may contain customer-tailored data not originating from a State authority, such as private airports and runways or private arrival or departure procedures. The end user has the responsibility to verify the suitability of this data for the intended operation.
Universal Avionics receives the World Magnetic Model (WMM) from an official government source. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA's), National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) distribute the WMM data on behalf of the United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Because the data supplier is an official government source, Universal Avionics does not require assurance of DO-200 compliance from the supplier.
The WMM produced at five-year intervals is used to generate the FMS Magnetic Variation (MagVar) database.
FMS MagVar Database Type 2 LOA
The InSight Terrain Database is comprised of three sub-databases: Terrain Elevation; Terrain Coverage; and Terrain Cultural Chart Features. InSight Terrain Elevation is produced by Universal Avionics from multiple data products. UA validates elevation data and is the first RTCA DO-200A compliant participant in the Terrain Elevation Database aeronautical data chain. The elevation data is classified as data process assurance level 2. UA obtains the Terrain Coverage and Terrain Cultural Chart Feature data from a non-compliant supplier. The coverage and cultural data is classified as data process assurance level 4.
InSight Nav Reference data is supplied to Universal Avionics by Jeppesen. Jeppesen holds a Type 1 LOA from the FAA and a Type 1 DAT Certificate from EASA for ARINC 424 NavData.
InSight Nav Reference Type 2 LOA
InSight Obstacle data is supplied to Universal Avionics by Jeppesen. Jeppesen holds a Type 1 LOA from the FAA for Obstacle data.
InSight Airport Mapping data is supplied to Universal Avionics by Jeppesen. Jeppesen holds a Type 1 LOA from the FAA for Airport Mapping data.
InSight Airport Mapping Type 2 LOA
eChart data is supplied by Jeppesen. Jeppesen holds a Type 1 LOA from the FAA for eChart data.
The SVS Navigation data is supplied to Universal Avionics by Jeppesen. Jeppesen holds a Type 1 LOA from the FAA and a Type 1 DAT Certificate from EASA for ARINC 424 NavData.
The SVS Obstacle data is supplied to Universal Avionics by Jeppesen. Jeppesen holds a Type 1 LOA from the FAA for Obstacle data.
The SVS Terrain database is comprised of Terrain Elevation and Terrain Cultural data. SVS Terrain Elevation is supplied by Jeppesen. UA validates elevation data and is the first RTCA DO-200A compliant participant in the Terrain Elevation Database aeronautical data chain. The elevation data is classified as data process assurance level 2. UA obtains the SVS Terrain Cultural data from a non-compliant supplier. The cultural data is classified as data process assurance level 4.
SVS Periodic Navigation and Obstacle Type 2 LOA
As defined in RTCA/DO-200A, the end user has the ultimate responsibility to ensure the data requirements are met. These responsibilities are satisfied, in part, by obtaining aeronautical data from an RTCA/DO-200A–compliant supplier such as Universal Avionics. By using Universal Avionics-supplied data, the end user agrees to the data quality requirements established by Universal Avionics, a copy of which can be obtained from Universal Avionics upon request. Further, per RTCA/DO-200A, the end user should verify the aeronautical data is current, valid, and appropriate for the intended operation. The end user also should become familiar with applicable notices to airmen (NOTAMs), Jeppesen Database Alerts, NAVBLUE FMS Navdata bulletins, Lufthansa Systems Flight Safety Alerts and Nav Data Addendums, and Universal Avionics Data notices and alerts that may affect operation. Finally, the end user should notify Universal Avionics if it discovers an error or inconsistency in the data.
